Music & videos will be a major area of focus on this blog! Each month I'll post a new playlist that will be updated on a daily basis with the NEWEST & HOTTEST tracks out. Stay tuned & enjoy January's list. It's the second day of the month & the list is already bringing heat! LET ME KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE MUSIC! You Abercrombies will be particularly happy to note that this blog is not blocked by home office I.T.! Tracks of particular interest:
Justin Timberlake's new release entitled "If I" featuring T.I.
Camera Phone- The Game featuring Ne-Yo
Watch out for 88keys. The buzz is that he's the next Kanye. We shall see. The "Morning Wood" track featured below is likely a B-side yet still quite humorous if you ask me!
5o Cent is back at it with his new single "Get Up". Sounds like he's after the number one Billboard slot IF the album ever comes out. You know how they are over there at Aftermath- DELAYS, DELAYS, DELAYS!!!
REVISED 1/03/08
Ladies, health reasons aside, would you ever wear a pair of flats to a special function, a night out on the town an interview or an event away from home? I HOPE not!
Wearing flats to an occasion previously mentioned is like driving a white Ferrari, or requesting a black & white copy of a Salvador Dali print. Ferrari’s should be RED and the work of Salvador Dali should be viewed in COLOR! Both the car & the painting need optimal COLOR to have full impact just as a nice dress or skirt need a pair of HEELS to bring the outfit together!
There's nothing initially more attractive to a guy then knowing that a girl has her act together. The first sign that the fellas have to make such a judgement call is to simply evaluate the way she chooses to present herself in public. Its true, first impressions mean everything!
To me, dressing to impress for ladies means presenting the "total package," not just taking care of the parts that you think a guy is looking at.
The "total package" means that in addition to being a woman of intellect, when you go out socially, you also show demonstrate that you understand the perception being formulated when you select a pair of heels as opposed to opting for flats while keeping the mani & pedi tight! Is that too much to ask for? Even saying the "F" word is difficult for me! F-L-A-T-S...FLATS! YUUUCK!
My crew has affectionately coined a term of endearment for this small expectation that we each hold so near & dear to our hearts- its called rockin' "heels & skirts!" Honestly, it doesn't take much to make us happy... Heels & skirts across the country have brought many a smile to our already grinning faces lol:)
So I ask you the reader, when is it ok NOT to (high) "heel it up?" To me, almost ANY occasion is an occasion to rock a heel over a flat, but I'll try to be practical for the purposes of this post. Flats are perfect for a backyard cookout, a stroll in the park or playing in the yard with kids but thats where the buck stops.
Take a look at the following pictures & be honest... If you were in charge & had to make the decision on appearance alone, which one of these girls would you give a million dollar contract too? As an fyi, NONE of the following three pictures are of well-known models- the girls are just friends rockin' their personal style- so no excuses!
Can't say I see the heel/motorcycle combination to often but she rocks it well!
It's not her airplane but you can't tell me that she look like she doesn't belong there!
Don't get me wrong there's absolutely nothing wrong with this picture either! But does it have IMPACT of the previous photos?
Reminiscent of our childhood days when we played Mortal Combat & Street Fighter video games, a pair of high heels represent the "finishing move" that can either stack the deck in a particular woman's favor or leave the deck on the card table in its original packaging waiting for the next game to start.
High Heels give a lady stature, sex appeal, height, authority, an air of professionalism and that extra little pizzas to stand out in any situation.
Believe it or not, many guys pay close attention to the small stuff. Below is a classic clip from Eddie Murphy's movie entitled "Boomerang." It captures the essence of why a woman would want to take care of herself...
Ladies, in your particular case Eddie Murphy might not be the one doing the observing, but SOMEONE is taking a close look at your ability to manage the minute details! And I'M NOT talking about the knuckle heads that most of you choose to date on a regular basis. I'm talking about young professionals; the 27 year-old lawyer who is a true to life Kevin Hill, the medical device rep who travels wherever he wants to at the drop or the fortune 50 executive manager who is the life of the party.
PHYSICAL BEAUTY ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH TO LAND ONE OF THESE GUYS.
YOU GOTTA HAVE THE TOTAL PACKAGE- intellect, a good attitude, morals, values & a genuine desire to take care of yourself!
Guys like the ones mentioned above truly have their shit together & aren't intimidated easily. Sure they like to have fun, but they also have a vision of what their lives should look like 5,10, 15 & 20 years down the road.
Enough with the complaining about "I can't find a good guy anywhere!" Where are you looking? Good guys are out there right under your nose but YOU have to be on your "A" game to get into the game!
Let this post serve as a lesson to all that "dumbing it down" is not always the best way to go. Lets make a commitment to take care of ourselves & dare to be different- dress it up a bit more in 2009! It might help you find what you're really looking for.
Published 1/04 What would the world look like if everyone made a valiant attempt to live out their true "G" on a daily basis? I'm CERTAIN that it would be a much different place than the world we currently live in.
Monday January 5th is officially apon us. But THIS Monday represents more than just the typical return of the work week. The first official Monday in January represents a return to the norm. A return to a way of living where people hide their inner "G" deep inside themselves until called on again during the next holiday season. A return to a way of living where many place work & self first as opposed to going out of the way to extend a helping hand to someone in need (as typically seen during the holiday season).
At this point you might be asking yourself "what's G?" "G" is that "G"reatness that everyone has but so few people maximize! Most of us come up with some type of excuse to not to use our "G". We stop short of "G" and simply "F" around! And we all know what "F" stand for right? FAILURE! Failure is accepting anything less that greatness for yourself & those around you.
Stop "F'ING" yourself and start "G'ING." The answer to any F is G:
"I'm too fat"= GYM!
Finances lagging?= GRIND, baby GRIND!
Blessed with excess funds?= GIVE baby GIVE!
If you're not seeing incremental improvement in yourself as you reflect on where you've been in the last 1, 2 or 3 years, what are you doing to rectify this situation? If you're not seeing your "friends" aspire to make themselves better & in return push you towards your "G", then why are you associating with these individuals?
January is the time for "New Year's Cleaning..." I challenge you to throw out ANYTHING in your life that may be serving as a cancer- anything that is ultimately holding you back from being all that you can be.
Whatever the ailment, get rid of it now! You may find it hard at first to come to terms with the initial void left by the item that you previously leaned on but I promise you, it will all get better with time. In fact, sooner than later you'll praise yourself for making a commitment to your mind, spirit & soul.
"Get in touch with your inner 'G' to get the energy for the Syngergy."

The following 60 second commercial is part of a series currently running in prime time. The series served as inspiration for this post. Its a great piece highlighting some of the athletic "G" seen over the last several decades.
New Years & New Year's Eve mean many different things to different people. The actual "NYE event" represents an opportunity to party & in the words of Jim Jones "pop champagne" for most. Many (including myself) get caught up in the excitement of getting dressed up & gathering with friends and/or family to attend some special party at a hotel, club or bar. While I always seem to enjoy the evening (even when it doesn't pan out exactly how I expected it to), I've come to realize (from listening to you & watching others) that many people are often disappointed or sad as they close out the previous year & usher in a new one. Correct me if I'm wrong but this just doesn't seem like the way to start off a new 365 day period most commonly referred to as a "NEW YEAR!"
My question to you is "what is the true cause of this letdown?"
Is it because there's a void in one's life that is currently unfulfilled? Is it that the man/woman in this type of person's life is no longer there & one is unable to come to terms with the fact that at some point one has to move on?
Is it because deep down inside you know you're hiding some insecurities about yourself that are keeping you from being genuinely happy with your own life?
Is it because this type of person expects to meet his/her "knight/princes in shining armor" for a midnight kiss and go on to live out a fairytale life? Well I've been there before & I'm here to tell you that it doesn't happen that easily.
Whatever the reason, I'm a believer in the ideology that until you have yourself in a "good place," you'll never be truly happy! Am I wrong in believing that in order to build a house you have to have a strong foundation? Why is this so hard for some people to realize? Happiness doesn't come from SOMEONE or SOMETHING else. It comes from INSIDE YOURSELF!
Long ago I committed to myself that I would never let someone else define me by their own terms, decide my fate or determine my happiness. I think that's why I truly enjoy life as much as I do. SO hopefully you brought in the new year in whatever fashion suited you the best. Raise a glass & toast to 2009.
ThinkBIG, dreamBIG,
DO BIGTHINGS!!!
Oh yeah & pop a little champagne in honor of the new year if you haven't done so already:)
